Pak-US relations strengthened during Trump’s tenure: Naqvi

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday said that Pakistan-US relations have strengthened during President Donald Trump’s tenure. Naqvi said this during a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur. The meeting was attended by the acting US Ambassador, Natalie Baker; the Minister of State for Interior, Tallal Chaudhry; and the Interior Secretary, Muhammad Khurram Agha. “Pakistan-US relations are undoubtedly based on mutual trust and bilateral cooperation,” he said. According to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, both sides discussed bilateral relations and the evolving situation in the Middle East. They also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and anti-narcotics efforts. Naqvi said that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place for American companies working on the RekoDiq project. The minister also expressed Pakistan’s desire to see the early restoration of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States. “We are hopeful for a lasting and peaceful resolution of the Middle East conflict,” he added. The US Assistant Secretary of State praised Pakistan’s role in ensuring peace and stability in the region. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
