HYDERABAD: The three-day 2nd International Conference on Chemical Sciences: A Multidisciplinary Approach (ICCS-MA 2026) officially opened today at the Institute of Chemistry, Khairpur. Organized by the Institute of Chemistry in collaboration with the ACS-Pakistan Chapter, the event has drawn leading scientists, researchers, and emerging scholars from across the globe to explore interdisciplinary solutions in the chemical sciences. Delivering the first keynote address, Prof. Dr. Cemil Alkan from Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkey, he discussed how microencapsulated phase change materials (PCMs) can improve thermal energy storage by enhancing stability, heat transfer, and durability. He highlighted sustainable synthesis methods, biomass-based materials, nanoparticle integration, and smart multifunctional applications, including solar energy systems and thermo chromic materials, emphasizing scalability and future energy-saving technologies. Following him, Prof. Dr. Norazilawati from the University of Malaya, Researchers from the University of Malaya presented biodegradable plant stem starch–based electrolytes for sustainable energy storage applications. Their study demonstrated improved ionic conductivity, thermal stability, and electrochemical performance using ammonium nitrate doping. The research highlights eco-friendly, low-cost polymer electrolytes as promising alternatives for next-generation electrochemical energy storage technologies. She expressed gratitude for the exceptional hospitality, transportation, and accommodation extended to international delegates. Her keynote focused on innovative research regarding electrolytes and pineapple production, highlighting the diverse applications of chemical sciences. Inaugurating the conference, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Mirs, hailed the gathering as a clear reflection of Sindh’s growing scientific potential. He acknowledged the presence of delegates from the United States, Germany, Italy, Turkey, China, Brazil, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Ben, and in other nations.
