'The assassination of the Palestinian people has not ceased' - Massive march in Sao Paulo commemorates the 78th anniversary of the Nakba and denounces the Israeli offensive in Gaza

"A massive march took place in Sao Paulo on Saturday, as part of the commemoration of 78 years of the Nakba, which recalls the forced displacement of 750,000 Palestinians from the territory where Israel was created. The mobilization also remembered the 20th anniversary of the so-called "May Crimes," an episode in which more than 500 people died in less than two weeks during clashes between security forces and alleged members of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). Recorded images show protesters marching through the streets holding signs with slogans such as: 'Israel is starving Palestinians in Gaza! Stop the holocaust!', 'Down with the genocide of the Palestinian people' and '20 years of the May Crimes: The capitalist state is responsible!' On site, Mandy, a member of the Global Sumud Flotilla, stated that "this moment is very important to strengthen the fight against genocide," as well as for the release of Palestinian political prisoners. For his part, Bruno, a second member, asserted that the "genocide" against Palestine by Israel continues. "Yes, the Nakba never stopped, nor does it at this moment, under the false name of a ceasefire. The killing of the Palestinian people has not ceased for a single day. Under that false ceasefire, more than 1,000 Palestinians have already been killed in the Gaza Strip, in addition to countless attacks in the West Bank," he indicated. Another protester, Mohamed, agreed with this stance by stating that "a new Nakba is being carried out against the Palestinian people, an ongoing genocide," and expressed his "total and unconditional support for the struggle and resistance" of the country. Nakba means "catastrophe" in Arabic and refers to the mass displacement of Palestinians during the Arab-Israeli war that began on May 15, 1948. During the events, 530 villages were destroyed and approximately 15,000 Palestinians were killed."
