Samsung will seemingly launch its next foldable phone range at an Unpacked event on 22 July, and we’ve heard plenty about what we’re going to see there already. Now, Greek website Techmaniacs has supplied what it claims to be specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold Wide (aka the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide). The report claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 won’t be as big an upgrade as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was, though it won’t be lacking as far as upgrades are concerned. The first of these isn’t the most exciting, though a slightly slimmer (4.1mm) and lighter (just over 210g) design is definitely welcome. Another was entirely expected: the report claims that the Fold 8 will run on the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra . Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry It seems the camera system will remain very similar to that of the Fold 7, with the same 200Mp main camera and twin 10Mp selfie cams. However, the ultra-wide camera will receive some notable attention, moving up from 12Mp to 50Mp. While this doesn’t guarantee a significant boost to image quality, we’re hoping so. Arguably, the most consequential upgrade will be the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s battery, which is tipped to move from 4,400mAh to 5,000mAh. This could be paired with upgraded wired charging, with Samsung finally ditching 25W in favour of a less sluggish 45W. The lack of meaningful battery and charging upgrades was one of our main criticisms of the otherwise brilliant Galaxy Z Fold 7, so this could be a big deal. All in all, we’re looking at six key upgrades there. While there are no groundbreaking changes, they should deliver a significant quality-of-life improvement. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide specs As for the Galaxy Z Fold Wide, one of the n ew breed of wide foldables , the report claims that both the wide and ultra-wide cameras (there isn’t expected to be a telephoto) will be 50Mp. It’ll have a 4,800mAh battery and will also support 45W charging, and will weigh around the 200g mark. The report also mentions a 7.6-inch internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which should resemble an even smaller iPad. Apple is expected to pursue the same form factor with the iPhone Fold just a few months later. Excited? Samsung’s next Unpacked event is rumoured to take place in July, so we don’t have long to wait.
