NYPD present in Mexico? - Sheinbaum questions the use of the New York police logo on patrol cars in Chihuahua

"Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum questioned the use of the New York Police Department logo on municipal patrol cars in Chihuahua, expressing her disagreement and stance on defending national sovereignty during her morning conference this Tuesday in Mexico City. When asked about the incorporation of the New York police logo on official vehicles in Chihuahua, Sheinbaum indicated that it is part of a past vision where it was believed that security strategies from other countries are more efficient than national ones. "You can take all the strategies from other places in the world that are important, but to put the seal of another city that is not your city, well, they want to simulate, really. I prefer Chihuahua over New York," she stated. On March 19, Chihuahua Mayor Marco Bonilla delivered 46 new units to the Municipal Police to strengthen security tasks. In the video shared by the authorities, it is observed that the patrol cars have the New York Police logo. However, the local government has not provided an explanation in this regard. At another point in the conference, a journalist exposed that the United States Embassy has contacted journalists and influencers to disseminate information and combat false narratives, which opened a discussion about the limits of diplomatic communication. "An embassy can contact a reporter to provide related news. They can hold press conferences. What they cannot do is advance in influencing Mexican politics. That's where the limit is," the president indicated. In response, Sheinbaum reiterated that her government seeks to maintain a cooperative relationship with the United States based on mutual respect, the principles of sovereignty, and the free self-determination of peoples. Chihuahua has maintained a close relationship with the United States in terms of security. However, the collaboration has raised questions about the interference of foreign agencies following the case of two CIA agents who died last April in a car accident after participating in an anti-drug operation."
