Silver Fern Catherine Hall ruled out for ANZ Premiership season after injury, in doubt for Commonwealth Games

The Silver Ferns defender Catherine Hall is in doubt for the Commonwealth Games after suffering a devastating ankle injury. The Mystics goal keep has been ruled out of the remainder of netball’s ANZ Premiership after limping from the court late in the round five victory over the Pulse in Wellington. Hall had surgery on Monday. In a statement, Netball New Zealand said, “Catherine Hall is currently in rehabilitation with the Silver Ferns Performance team. She is working closely with medical staff and is being well supported. Her rehabilitation plan is in its initial planning phase, and we will provide an update when appropriate.” Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua will name her Commonwealth Games squad in mid-June, after the ANZ Premiership regular season has concluded. Hall has been the standout defender in 2026, leading the competition in deflections (38) and intercepts (18) despite having missed round six. She is third-equal in defensive rebounds (10) and does not feature in the top ten for total penalties conceded. The 22-year-old produced eye-catching cameos for the Silver Ferns during last year’s Constellation Cup and Northern Tour. The Silver Ferns will meet for a three-day camp in early July once Super Netball and the ANZ Premiership have concluded. They’ll later fly to the UK, where they will have 10 days before game one against hosts Scotland on July 25.
