Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to visit North Korea as early as next week and may hold talks with leader Kim Jong Un, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported Wednesday. The report cited a high-ranking government official as saying Seoul has “obtained intelligence” that Xi will likely visit North Korea “soon.” The visit, which would be Xi’s first to the country since June 2019, may come later this month or early next month, another government official said, according to the report.
