From Kremlin to kitchen - Harbin expo serves up tasty new chapter in China-Russia trade relations

"The 'Made in Russia' food festival took centre stage at the 10th China-Russia Expo in Harbin on Wednesday, showcasing a diverse array of Russian foods and agricultural products. Footage shows visitors and international buyers exploring the culinary displays, featuring meats, drinks and condiments, as well as Russian imports of Chinese delicacies, such as dried sea cucumber. The popular festival highlighted the practical cooperation and expanding trade ties between businesses and officials from both nations, operating under the expo's overarching theme of 'Trust, Cooperation and Mutual Benefit.' "I believe it represents a win-win situation for everyone involved, whether it’s the organisers, the general public, or the exhibitors themselves. I also hope the government will organise more exhibitions like this to achieve this outcome for all three parties," Liu, an exhibitor, said. Another exhibitor, Zhang, noted that Russian food is very popular among young Chinese consumers. "Imported products offer two key advantages: first, their flavours are novel and distinct from domestic options; second, they primarily use all-natural ingredients," she added. Spanning 55,000 square metres, the largest comprehensive China-Russia exhibition platform has attracted over 1,500 companies from 46 countries and regions, running from May 17 to May 21. The expo coincided with a landmark state visit by the Russian president to China from May 19–20, during which he met with President Xi Jinping to discuss expanding strategic cooperation across multiple key sectors."
