"Thousands of herons and storks were seen flying over Con Chim in Tra Vinh Province for the nesting season, transforming the sky into a spectacular display of white canvas. Footage captured on Thursday shows flocks gliding low over the calm waters. Others soar high, swooping and circling in massive, synchronised waves in a powerful display of nature's rhythm. "In the morning, around 4, the storks fly inland to forage for food. They return to their nests in the afternoon, with the largest flocks arriving around 5 pm," resident Nguyen Anh Khoa remarked. "A decade ago, hunting was common, but now we’re dedicated to protecting the storks and their habitat. We’re also planting more trees to encourage their return," he continued. Another local, Ho Van Giao, shared that he has 'never seen such an abundance'. "This flock has been around for months. I remind visitors not to hunt and educate locals on the importance of preserving our clean environment. I hope this attracts even more herons and tourists," he added. Every nesting season, the Con Chim Ecological Zone in central Vietnam becomes a mesmerising natural showcase. Situated in the heart of Thi Nai Lagoon, just 15 kilometres from Quy Nhon City, this 480-hectare wetland serves as a critical sanctuary for migratory birds. During peak months, thousands arrive to build their nests, blanketing the lush green mangrove canopy in a striking layer of white."
