Property confiscation, prison terms proposed for harming Issyk-Kul Lake

A draft law aimed at strengthening the protection of Kyrgyzstan’s water bodies has been submitted to the Zhogorku Kenesh. The document proposes a sharp increase in fines for pollution of lakes and rivers, a ban on the destruction of sea buckthorn thickets in Issyk-Kul region, and tougher penalties for poaching.
