"Climate activists from 'Extinction Rebellion' dyed fountains and public water installations bright green in several German cities on Wednesday, in a protest against the government’s gas policy. Footage shows bright green water flowing in the fountain beside the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin, where activists carried out the symbolic action in the morning. The group said it used Uranin, a non-toxic dye commonly used in water management to trace leaks. According to Extinction Rebellion, the protest was aimed at criticising continued investment in gas infrastructure and planned new gas-fired power plants as Germany moves away from coal. Activists described the green water as a symbol of environmental damage and what they called 'greenwashing' in climate policy. Similar actions were carried out in 17 cities across Germany, including Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Dresden."
