Government to exhaust all means to enforce warrant vs. Bato —Palace

MANILA, Philippines — The government will exhaust all means available, within the bounds of the law, to enforce the arrest order issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sen. Ronald Bato Dela Rosa, Malacañang said on Thursday. Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro’s remarks came after Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida tasked the National and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to enforce dela Rosa’s arrest after the Supreme Court denied the lawmaker’s petition to block the implementation of the ICC warrant. “The DOJ clearly stated that the arrest warrant against Sen. Bato is enforceable. Appropriate action in accordance with the law is expected from the government,” Castro said in a statement in Filipino. “Our officials will do everything to provide justice to all,” she added. The ICC named Dela Rosa as an “indirect co-perpetrator” of former president Rodrigo Duterte who is facing charges of crimes against humanity in connection with the Duterte administration’s bloody anti-drugs campaign. The senator has gone back to hiding after being last seen at the Senate premises in the early hours of May 14.
