ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Friday approved a series of major development projects, including the detailed design of the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project, Havelian Dry Port, Thar Coal Rail Connectivity and arrangements related to the Diamer Basha Dam. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening national development initiatives and addressing infrastructure and social sector priorities across all provinces and regions. Key projects approved included the ML-1 detailed design, Havelian Dry Port, Lowari Tunnel access works, Thar Coal Rail Connectivity, Kachhi Canal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa irrigation improvements, Jinnah Hospital Islamabad, Sindh Human Capital 1000 Days Programme, Sindh flood rehabilitation support, and Diamer Basha Dam-related arrangements. The meeting was attended by Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning Punjab, Minister for Irrigation Sindh, Tariq Bajwa SAPM, and secretaries of the Economic Affairs Division, Health, Water, and Planning, along with senior officials from relevant ministries.
