Quezzozn City advises motorists of traffic slowdown on Sunday for subway machine transfer

MANILA, Philippines — Motorists are advised to expect slow-moving traffic along several major roads in Quezon City early Sunday morning as a tunnel boring machine for the Metro Manila Subway Project will be transported from Plaridel, Bulacan to the North Avenue Station site in Quezon City. The local government said the transport operation would take place from 2:45 a.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic slowdown is expected along: • C3 Road — 2:45 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. • Araneta Avenue — 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. • Quezon Avenue — 4:30 a.m. to 5:10 a.m. • Elliptical Road — 5:10 a.m. to 5:20 a.m. • North Avenue — 5:20 a.m. to 6 a.m. City officials said the tunnel boring machine would be used for the construction of subway tunnels connecting the North Avenue Station and Quezon Avenue Station of the subway project. The city government said personnel from the Traffic and Transport Management Department and the Department of Public Order and Safety would be deployed to help manage traffic flow during the transport activity. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to avoid delays. The Metro Manila Subway Project is the country’s first underground railway system and is expected to connect Quezon City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City once completed, with several stations planned across Metro Manila.
