NBI intensifies search for ‘armed and dangerous’ dela Rosa

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has intensified its manhunt for Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, describing him as “armed and dangerous” as law enforcement units step up efforts to locate the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief. In a news forum on Saturday, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the classification waspart of standard protocol for individuals being actively sought by authorities, particularly those with prior law enforcement or security background. Matibag said Dela Rosa wasbeing treated with heightened caution to ensure the safety of NBI personnel and other operatives involved in the operation. He urged the public to immediately report any sighting of the senator to authorities, stressing the need for coordination to prevent risks during enforcement actions. The NBI chief also warned that individuals who may assist in allegedly concealing or facilitating evasion could face charges, including obstruction of justice. According to the bureau, tracker teams have been deployed, while additional units have been ordered to assist in the ongoing search and possible service of legal orders.
