"Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, paid an official visit to Tehran on Saturday, where he held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian officials. Footage shows Munir in talks with Pezeshkian. He can also be seen holding meetings with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. "We were in a ceasefire in which you acted as mediators, and the United States violated the agreement by imposing a naval blockade, which it is now seeking to lift," Ghalibaf stated during his meeting with the Pakistani military official. "Our armed forces have rebuilt themselves during the ceasefire in such a way that, should Trump foolishly restart the war, it will be even more crushing and bitter for the United States," he asserted. According to Pakistani media, Munir’s visit includes discussions on the ongoing US-Iran negotiations, regional peace and stability and other issues of mutual interest. The Pakistani army chief is also expected to meet other senior Iranian leaders to discuss bilateral cooperation and the evolving regional situation. This comes after US President Donald Trump claimed on Friday, that 'Iran is dying to make a deal,' adding: "we hit them hard, and we had no choice because Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. They cannot have it." The United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with missile attacks targeting Israel, US interests in the region and Gulf states. On April 8, Trump announced a two-week truce with Iran to allow negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, later extending it 'until Tehran submits its proposals,' without specifying a timeframe. Islamabad hosted a round of negotiations between both sides on April 11, but the talks failed to produce a breakthrough. A second scheduled round has yet to take place, although diplomatic efforts are ongoing."
