'My father, whom I loved so much, has been martyred' - Gazans mourn police killed in reported Israeli strike *DISTRESSING*

"Mourners bid farewell to police officers killed in an alleged Israeli strike in the Al-Tawam area in northern Gaza on Saturday Footage shows responders and loved ones carrying the bodies, while others injured can be seen being admitted to the hospital. Later, prayers can be seen being offered to the departed. "These police officers were part of the Aid Security Unit, whilst they were securing the aid supplies, they were targeted by two reconnaissance missiles. They went out to serve their people," explained Jaafar al-Najma, a relative of the victims. "My father, whom I loved so much, has been martyred. He was my only support; I have no one but him. He used to feed people and the needy, and distribute aid to everyone," said Mohammed Jarbou, whose father was killed in the attack. The Palestinian Ministry of the Interior and National Security announced in a statement that "five police officers and personnel” were killed when an “Israeli aircraft bombed a police post in the Al-Tawam area north of Gaza." The ministry said that 42 police personnel have now been killed since the ceasefire agreement came into effect in October last year. Israel had not commented on the alleged strike at the time of publication. War between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, 2023, following attacks carried out by Hamas which resulted in the deaths of 1,139 people, most of them Israeli civilians, and the abduction of more than 200 others. In response, Israel launched a large-scale military campaign in Gaza which at the time of publication has resulted in the deaths of at least 72,783 Palestinians, with 172,997 injured. Last January, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of the second phase of Trump's 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which includes moving from a ceasefire to disarmament, forming a technocratic administration, and the beginning of reconstruction works.
