"Thousands of people protested in Belgrade on Saturday in a demonstration organised by Serbia’s protesting university students, which took place amid a heavy security presence. The footage shows crowds converging on a central square in the Serbian capital from multiple directions, carrying banners, blowing vuvuzelas, whistling and chanting. The movement began on November 1, 2024, after a railway station disaster in Novi Sad, where a concrete canopy collapsed, killing 16 people. Students and members of the public blame the disaster on ‘corruption-fueled’ negligence. The government has said it was addressing those concerns, calling for dialogue with the demonstrators - and has accused Western nations of inflaming the situation and attempting to trigger a 'colour revolution'."
