PMA welcomes over 1k incoming members of Class 2030

MANILA, Philippines — At least 367 incoming cadets, composed of 290 males and 77 females, of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) took their oath, as they were received by their upper classmen, marking the start of their transformation from civilians into members of the Cadet Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Out of 33,640 individuals who applied, 24,630 qualified to take the PMA Entrance Exam 2025, from which 1,436 passed and underwent the rigorous screening process. The biggest number of incoming cadets came from Cordillera at 12 percent, National Capital Region and Calabarzon at 11 percent each. In his opening remarks at the Borromeo Field on Saturday, the Commandant of Cadets underscored the significance of the occasion as the first step in the cadets’ military and academic journey inside the Academy. “The Reception Rites mark a life-changing milestone — it marks the official beginning of your military career. This is not merely a ceremonial event, rather, it signifies your transition from a carefree civilian life into the disciplined, demanding, and regimented life of a cadet,” he said. Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia, PMA superintendent, highlighted the Academy’s thrusts in ensuring a responsive training amidst the evolving security landscape. “The academy is aggressively undertaking initiatives to enhance our academic and military curriculum, elevating it to be at par with the highest international standards. Your children will be trained not just in the classic art of war, but in critical systems thinking, cybersecurity, international defense, and strategic leadership,” Valencia said. “We will always endeavor to provide them with the best education and training the nation can offer, ensuring that when they graduate, they are fully equipped to protect our nation in the 21st century,” he added. As members of PMA Class 2030, the incoming cadets will undergo the enhanced Bachelor of Science in Management major in Security Studies curriculum, similar to PMA Classes 2028 and 2029. The program is designed to equip cadets with competencies relevant to modern warfare, territorial defense, and the evolving operational environment, while developing the knowledge and skills essential for future military officers. The new recruits were met by the Second Class Cadet Squad Leaders from PMA “Siklab Kasilag” Class of 2028.
