MANILA, Philippines — The Malaysian Embassy in Manila confirmed that two Malaysians were affected by the building collapse in Angeles City, Pampanga , one of who has been confirmed to be safe. The embassy on Sunday evening said it was "ascertaining the status of the second Malaysian national." "Currently all necessary efforts are being made to locate and establish contact with the next of kin of both individuals," the embassy said in a statement. The embassy said it was "in close communication with local authorities to monitor the well-being of the citizen who is safe and to verify the status and whereabouts of the remaining national." "Malaysians requiring immediate consular assistance, or those wishing to provide information regarding other Malaysian nationals who may be in the area are urged to contact the embassy," it added. The embassy said it was closely monitoring the rescue operations for individuals feared trapped. "The embassy is actively gathering verified information through the relevant local authorities to ascertain the situation on the ground," it added.
