NRL: Warriors fear Roger Tuivasa-Sheck ACL rupture in Dragons win

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s NRL career could be over with fears the centre has ruptured his ACL. The New Zealand Warriors veteran limped from the field in the 30-12 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Stadium. He lasted just 11 minutes, suffering the blow after tackling Hayden Buchanan. Tuivasa-Sheck is set to undergo scans today, but the Daily Telegraph is reporting the Warriors fear it could be a season-ending injury. The former club captain has signed with English Super League club Wakefield Trinity for next season, meaning an ACL rupture would almost certainly spell the end of his Warriors and NRL career. The average ACL recovery timeline can span from nine to 12 months. Speaking after the victory over the Dragons, coach Andrew Webster was asked about whether Tuivasa-Sheck had suffered an ACL injury, and said he wasn’t sure. “He can walk, he’s walking around,” Webster said of Tuivasa-Sheck after the victory. “It’s just funny with those injuries. “We should have a scan machine at every ground. Then we could walk in here and give you guys feedback straight away, and we’d have clarity. “Until we get a scan, we’ll just wait and see.” An ACL injury for Tuivasa-Sheck would be the Warriors’ second in as many weeks. Halfback Tanah Boyd went down in the opening minutes of the Warriors’ Magic Round victory over the Brisbane Broncos, before scans confirmed his season was done, and surgery needed. The blow also comes days out from the Warriors’ top-of-the-table clash with the Penrith Panthers in Sydney on Sunday. Should Tuivasa-Sheck be ruled out, the Warriors’ stocks at centre would be hit further, with Rocco Berry also yet to take the field this season. Adam Pompey looms as the likely replacement, after a starring role for the Warriors’ New South Wales Cup side last weekend - albeit at five-eighth.
