COMMITTEE changes in the House of Representatives were not meant to influence the decision of lawmakers on whether to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte, House Assistant Minority Leader and Kabataan Rep. Renee Co said. "This is not, in our view, connected to voting for or against on a particular issue," Co, one of the House's two impeachment trial spokesmen, said in Filipino and English in an interview on Sunday with DWIZ. The House voted to impeach Duterte on May 11 over the alleged misuse of confidential funds, the amassing of unexplained wealth, bribery and threats to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his wife, and former speaker Martin Romualdez. Duterte denies the allegations. The articles of impeachment have been submitted to the Senate, and the trial is expected to start by June. If found guilty of any of the complaints, Duterte will be removed as vice president and faces a lifetime ban from holding any government position.
