Teenage boy charged after nationwide online bomb threat investigation

Police have arrested a teenager in Invercargill as part of an investigation into a series of bomb threats sent to educational and public sites across New Zealand. Acting on information gathered by Auckland-based detectives, Southland police searched a residential address in Invercargill yesterday afternoon. Southland Area Commander Mike Bowman said a teenage boy was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with two counts of threatening to kill/do grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Invercargill Youth Court today. Bowman said inquiries are ongoing, and further charges may be considered. This comes after several different public and educational facilities across Auckland were evacuated by a wave of threatening emails. More to come...
