LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed de-puty commissioners and district police officers to inspect buses and bus terminals in view of Eid ul Azha. She also ordered that fare lists be prominently displayed on every bus and at every bus stand to prevent overcharging. The chief minister directed authorities to ensure the provision of cold drinking water at bus terminals. The CM Maryam Nawaz warned that the route permits of buses involved in overcharging, as well as licences of bus terminals, would be cancelled. She further directed that transport vehicles operating without fitness certificates should not be allowed to run during Eid ul Azha. The chief minister instructed the transport department and district administration to ensure a ban on overloading of passengers. It may be added that the transport department has established a 1071 helpline for the redressal of passengers’ complaints. Passengers can call the helpline to report incidents of overcharging.
