ISLAMABAD: Gwadar Port has successfully handled more than 53,277 metric tonnes of cargo in a major operational milestone that, officials say, reflects the port’s growing regional and international trade significance. According to official details, the vessel MV B Jia Shan arriving from China was successfully berthed at Gwadar Port, where nearly 20,669 steel billets onboard were efficiently handled during transshipment operations destined for Sohar Port in Oman. Officials said the safe berthing and handling of the large vessel with a draft of 12.8 metres demonstrated Gwadar Port’s expanding operational capability and modern port infrastructure to accommodate larger international cargo ships. The successful operation is being viewed as an indication of increasing confidence among global shipping companies in Gwadar Port’s facilities and logistics capacity. Authorities said the port’s modern handling systems and strategic location are helping meet growing regional and global trade requirements. Gwadar Port continues to strengthen its role as a key trade and connectivity hub linking China, the Middle East and Central Asia under broader regional connectivity and maritime trade frameworks.
