EU won't evacuate Kiev! - Comm spox asked about Russia's retaliation warning, SILENT on Ukraine drone attacks on LPR college

"The European Commission dismissed warnings from Russia to evacuate Kiev - and avoiding referring to Ukraine's reported drone strikes on the LPR college that sparked it - during the latest briefing from Brussels on Tuesday. "What we have seen is that Russia is only trying to sow panic, issuing these threats. They want fear and isolation in Ukraine and elsewhere. But we have a clear message. This will not work. In fact, the EU is maintaining its presence and operation in Kiev. And these threats smell like desperation," said Anitta Hipper, EU Commission spokesperson. Moscow reported a huge drone strike by Kiev on the Starobelsk college in the Lugansk People's Republic last week - with Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) reporting 21 killed and 63 injured in the attack, which included a student dormitory. Ukraine's Western allies have seen condemnation for remaining silent on the strikes. Russia's foreign ministry called for foreign nationals and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital "as soon as possible" and warned citizens to stay away from administrative and military buildings. Vladimir Putin described it as a 'terrorist act', adding that it could not have been accidental, and instructed his defence industry to prepare a response. On May 24, Russia said it had launched a massive strike with 'Oreshnik', 'Iskander', 'Kinzhal' and 'Zircon' missiles at command posts, intelligence facilities and other military infrastructure in Kiev. While the Commission did not mention those who lost their lives in Starobelsk, it did pass on its "deepest condolences to the victims' families and their loved ones after today's tragic accident here in Belgium between a train and a school bus." Four people were confirmed killed - including two children - following a horror smash between a train and a school minibus in the Belgian town of Buggenhout on Tuesday. Federal Police spokesperson Anne Bergen confirmed that the 'barrier was closed' to traffic at the time of the collision, suggesting the bus driver had driven through it. "
