LAHORE: The Punjab government is resolutely committed to ensuring the provision of exemplary facilities and a foolproof security apparatus for the multitudes of devotees convening for the 784th annual Urs celebrations of the revered saint, Hazrat Baba Farid-ud-Din Ganj Shakar (RA). This resolve was articulated by the Secretary/Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, while presiding over a high-level consultative meeting here on Tuesday to review the administrative blueprint for the mega event. The high-profile huddle was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asif Raza, District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal Chadhar, alongside senior echelons of the Auqaf, local administration, security agencies, and other government departments. On this occasion, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta paid special thanks to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman for their visionary leadership, continuous patronage, and unwavering support in upgrading shrine infrastructure and ensuring flawless administrative and security arrangements for the upcoming Urs. He noted that the provincial leadership’s keen interest has been the driving force behind the seamless execution of public facilitation plans. In their respective addresses to the forum, the district leadership reiterated their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the venue and maintaining public order. DC Pakpattan, Asif Raza, emphasized that emergency contingency plans, rapid response medical units, and crowd-management protocols have been rigorously vetted. He assured that the district administration is working tirelessly to create a peaceful, highly organized environment for the incoming pilgrims. DPO Javed Iqbal Chadhar briefed the session on the localized deployment plan, highlighting that zero-tolerance policies would be enforced against anti-social elements. He assured the forum that traffic routing and perimeter security have been meticulously mapped out to facilitate smooth public movement while keeping vigilance at an all-time high, adding that the safety and spiritual peace of mind of every single devotee entering Pakpattan is their ultimate priority, backed by a sophisticated, multi-layered security matrix to ensure the event concludes flawlessly. Earlier, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta underscored that the Auqaf Department, in seamless tandem with the district administration and law enforcement agencies, will leave no stone unturned to facilitate the pilgrims. He mandated the establishment of comprehensive medical camps, unhindered provision of clean drinking water, and rigorous security protocols to efficiently manage the massive influx of visitors. Following the administrative session, Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhutta proceeded to the field to physically inspect the designated incoming and outgoing routes for the devotees, ensuring that queue-management protocols, security barriers, and public safety measures are perfectly optimized ahead of the massive public influx.
