"Muslims in New York attended a mass prayer to celebrate Eid al-Adha on Wednesday. Footage shows hundreds of worshippers gathering at Washington Square Arch to offer prayers while Imam Khalid Latif addressed the crowd. "This cannot be a community that is just about standing next to each other in prayer. It has to be one that has a deep love for one another, as well as oneself," he said. Some attendees expressed support for New York's first Muslim mayor Zohran Mamdani. "I am really stoked to be living in a Mamdani New York City," said Naaila Hassan, 34. "It's been pretty pivotal to see a lot of Muslims in my generation now really making our place in American society." "The Knicks is winning, Mamdani is the mayor, New York is looking beautiful," another worshipper added. Millions of Muslims around the world are celebrating the second major Muslim festival, Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice. It is celebrated in the last month of the Islamic calendar."
