Budget 2026: Govt unveils new levy for banks and insurance companies

The Government’s coming after banks and insurance companies with a new levy. They'll have to pay the small levy to the Reserve Bank to cover the costs of regulating the industry. It’s expected to bring in $209 million dollars over the next four years, and will be introduced next year. Nicola Willis says she looked at other options to tax banks - but there wasn’t agreement among the Coalition. LISTEN ABOVE
