A trades training boost is coming at the expense of fees-free university. Trades academy places are doubling to $20,000 over four years - giving school students the ability to learn trades, while at school. Money saved from cutting the fees free policy will fund 1000 more polytech places. Funding's phasing in from the start of the next school year.
