"At least seven Palestinians were reportedly killed after strikes targeted a residential building in Gaza City on the first day of Eid al-Adha. Footage shows ambulances and fire engines rushing towards the site to look for survivors and extinguish the fire. Relatives and rescue workers can be seen carrying the body of a girl to an ambulance. "The street was buzzing with displaced people going back and forth," said an eyewitness, Alaa Abid. "We were less than a few meters away from the event. We were surprised by a missile from F-16 planes." Iyad Azzam was downstairs with his mother when the attack took place. "I ran upstairs and found these children exactly as they were sleeping. An innocent child, no older than 12 years of age. I found her just as she was, a lifeless body," Azzam lamented. Ashraf Aswirki said he has lost his brother, sister, nephew and cousin. "They are innocent. They had nothing to do with it. By God, I am not in any, not in any faction. By God's life, I am not in any faction," Aswirki said. Meanwhile, the Israeli Defence Forces on Wednesday said it had "struck two key terrorists in the Hamas terror organization in the northern Gaza Strip." It comes a day after the IDF said it killed Hamas' new military wing head, Mohammed Odeh, who was 'the last remaining senior leader' involved in planning the October 7 attack. The Hamas-led attack in 2023 killed 1,139 people, most of them Israeli civilians, and resulted in more than 200 hostages being taken. In response, Israel launched a large-scale military campaign in Gaza involving airstrikes and a ground offensive. At the time of publication, 72,803 Palestinians were reported killed and 172,855 injured. In January, US special envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of the second phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, including transitioning from a ceasefire to disarmament, establishing a technocratic administration, and beginning reconstruction efforts."
