CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The power crisis in Oriental Mindoro worsened on Thursday after an 8-megawatt (MW) power plant in Roxas town caught fire, further reducing electricity supply and triggering prolonged rotational brownouts across the province. In a power advisory, the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco) said electricity demand on Thursday climbed to 78.20 MW.
