"Thousands of worshippers gathered at Baitul Mukarram, the National Mosque of Bangladesh in Dhaka, for holy Eid al-Adha prayers, marking an occasion of immense religious fervour and celebration across the country. Footage captures the festivities that commenced early Thursday morning, with devotees gathering in large numbers both at the mosque and the nearby National Eidgah Maidan. To accommodate the vast influx of worshippers, the Islamic Foundation organised five consecutive prayer congregations, starting with the first at 7 am. Each session was packed, as citizens stood shoulder to shoulder in deep devotion throughout the main hall, the verandahs, and the outer courtyards. Many devotees expressed their hopes for a harmonious future within the global Muslim community, particularly for those suffering in places like Palestine and Gaza. “May Allah grant us the ability to forget violence and hatred, and give us a beautiful and new Bangladesh in the future,” said attendee Omar Farooq. Abdus Sattar added, “While we celebrate Eid in peace and comfort, we must remember our brothers and sisters who are unable to do so due to fear and turmoil, like in Gaza, where every Eid is a struggle for survival.” The atmosphere outside the mosque was vibrant, as families and friends exchanged greetings and shared blessings. As the day unfolded, animal sacrifice activities commenced, reflecting the meaning of Eid al-Adha, with worshippers emphasising the importance of sharing with the less fortunate. Millions of Muslims around the world are celebrating the second-largest Muslim festival, Eid al-Adha, or the Festival of Sacrifice. It is celebrated in the last month of the Islamic calendar."
