CEBU CITY, Philippines — As the summer season in Cebu heats up, so does the risk of online booking scams that target unsuspecting tourists and residents alike. The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit in Central Visayas (RACU-7) warned that scammers are exploiting the busy season to carry out schemes. These include fake booking sites, hacking, identity theft, and voyeurism, which place many at risk of financial loss and personal harm. Deputy Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Artemio Ricabo of RACU-7 said that one of the most prevalent scams involves fake online bookings.
