"An enchanting early-summer spectacle is drawing massive crowds to Yiliang County in southwestern China’s Yunnan Province, where a crystal-blue lake has been completely encircled by a breathtaking sea of violet blossoms. Footage captured on Wednesday shows the shimmering water resembling a round mirror framed by clusters of vibrant, bell-shaped violet-blue petals. Gentle summer breezes send showers of blossoms drifting onto the clear waters. “The entire atmosphere of the sea of flowers is absolutely wonderful. The path is lined with pale purple blossoms as far as the eye can see. Walking through them feels incredibly pleasant; the view is wide open, and the scenery is truly soothing,” first-time visitor, Mr Han, shared. Located just southeast of Kunming – China's famed ‘Spring City’ – Yiliang County has quickly become a premier destination for nature lovers and photographers seeking the ultimate fairytale backdrop. “Here, the jacaranda trees are planted in vast groves; the entire road is shrouded in flowering trees, and the sea of flowers stretches endlessly – it's a much more visually striking sight,” Mr Zhang commented. Native to South America, jacaranda was introduced in China by botanists in the 1980s. The tree adapted beautifully to the mild, subtropical climates of southern and southwestern China. The annual floral transformation takes place between late April and May, when thousands of jacaranda trees reach their peak bloom, blanketing the waterfront landscape in a dense purple mist."
