"President of Serbia Alexandar Vucic in Shanghai on Thursday, shared fears about Russian UN Representative's stance on the 'direct military confrontation' with the EU. "People from the West said one thing, the Russians said another. I hope that will not happen, but I fear - not now, but in the future - that it could happen. I am afraid of that. It would be a terrible situation not only for us, but for the entire continent," Vucic said. Speaking with press, the president reported the increase of the Serbian military contingent and arms production. "We always look toward the future; we are not dealing only with rifles and pistols. We produce grenades ourselves and missiles up to a certain level, so we already have that capability. As for what is far more sophisticated, far more important, and far more powerful, we strive to possess it at a much higher level than those who might threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia," he added. The remarks follow the Permanent Representative of Russia to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Dmitry Polyanskiy's words he said to the Russian media. "We are, in fact, very, very close to a direct military confrontation, and the line is very blurred, so it will be very difficult to determine whether we are already in a hot phase or not. This was our warning to Western countries, also expressed during the [OSCE] meeting," he said. This comes as Moscow reported a huge drone strike by Kiev on the Starobelsk college in the Lugansk People's Republic - with Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) reporting 21 killed and 63 injured in the attack, which included a student dormitory. Russian President Vladimir Putin described it as a 'terrorist act', adding that it could not have been accidental, and instructed his defence industry to prepare a response. On May 24, Russia said it had launched a massive strike with 'Oreshnik', 'Iskander', 'Kinzhal' and 'Zircon' missiles at command posts, intelligence facilities and other military infrastructure in Kiev. At the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Russia's representative, Vassily Nebenzia, said Volodymyr Zelensky was 'killing his own former compatriots' because they were 'refusing to live under his neo-Nazi rule' - condemning the 'moral failure and complete disgrace' from Western leaders and countries who remained silent. Ukraine's General Staff claimed that their strikes targeted a number of military facilities, including "the headquarters of the 'Rubicon', the Centre for Advanced Unmanned Technologies in Starobelsk.""
