Angeles building collapse toll climbs to 6

MANILA, Philippines — The death toll on the building collapse in Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga has climbed to six, following the discovery of human remains at the site on Thursday night. A post on the Facebook page of the city’s information office indicated that the remains of a sixth victim was found at 11:31 p.m., according to an update by the Incident Command Post. The Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Luzon confirmed that the body was recovered at 12:40 a.m. on Friday. “As of 12:40 a.m., BFP Special Rescue Force successfully extricated one unidentified body, marking the 6th casualty for the 9-storey collapsed structure incident at Angeles City,” the BFP said in a Facebook post. The Search, Rescue and Retrieval Operations of the BFP entered its sixth day. “Manual clearing of debris and heavy equipment operations are continuously being conducted to aid responders in accessing affected areas of the collapsed structure,” the agency said.
