"Ningarhar Regional Hospital in eastern Afghanistan's Jalalabad received dead bodies and injured people on Saturday after a truck carrying passengers overturned on a highway. Footage shows children with varying injuries crying, while relatives can be seen roaming the hospital corridors to check on their loved ones. "We wanted to travel home from Kunar to Kabul in this truck. Unfortunately, all the members of our family were in this truck, the driver fell asleep, the vehicle overturned, and 20 members of our family were martyred, and 19 others were injured," Allahnazar, a relative of the victims, recounted. Authorities confirmed that 18 people on board the truck were killed, including 10 children, while dozens more were injured. The passengers were reportedly Afghan refugees returning from neighbouring Pakistan. Official statements indicate that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and flip over along the main route linking Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan with the capital, Kabul."
