East meets West - 10th Russian-Chinese Youth Games wraps with spectacular ceremony in Kaliningrad

"The closing ceremony of the 10th Russian-Chinese Youth Summer Games took place at the Yantarny Sports Palace in Kaliningrad on Saturday, May 30. Footage shows artists and athletes performing, as well as the award ceremony for the participants. "Russia topped the medal table with the most gold medals, while China took home the most medals overall. [...] And even in events we didn't win, we gained a great deal of valuable experience," said Natalia Ishchenko, Minister of Sports of the Kaliningrad Oblast. The Russian national team has won a total of 97 medals, including 53 gold, 35 silver, and 9 bronze, while the Chinese team has earned 98 medals, with 34 gold, 52 silver, and 12 bronze. The 10th Russian-Chinese Youth Summer Games were held in the Kaliningrad region from May 24 to 31. The programme featured 12 different sports: badminton, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis, synchronised swimming, rock climbing, rhythmic gymnastics, wrestling, boxing, wushu, and sambo, which was introduced for the first time at the tournament. About 310 athletes, aged between 11 and 20, took part in the competition."
