"Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed on Sunday that the IDF has captured the strategic Beaufort Castle as troops advanced further in southern Lebanon. "The Israeli flag once again flies over the peaks overlooking the settlements of the Galilee," he said. "Our brave fighters have captured Beaufort once more and will remain there," Katz continued. The defence minister stressed that the expansion of the manoeuvre serves a 'clear message', adding that "those who threaten Israeli citizens will lose their strategic assets one by one." "It is not over yet [...] We are all determined to complete the mission of restoring security to the residents of the north. This is a prolonged struggle, but we are determined to finish it," he concluded. A fragile ceasefire remains in effect, with talks said to be ongoing between Israel and Lebanon. On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the IDF had crossed the Litani River, advancing further towards southern Lebanon. Israel earlier indicated it intends to establish a 'security zone' inside Lebanese territory, stretching from the border to the Litani River, an area equivalent to around 10% of the country."
