MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte led former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo in Pulse Asia’s May 2026 survey in a theoretical race for the 2028 presidential polls. Results of the May 3–7 Stratbase-commissioned survey showed Duterte getting the support of 51 percent of the respondents, while Robredo got 41 percent. The respondents were asked, "Whom would you vote for if the 2028 elections were held at the time of the survey?" In Metro Manila, Duterte got 48 percent while Robredo received 46 percent. For Balance Luzon (Luzon minus Metro Manila) Robredo got 55 percent, and Duterte, 33 percent. In the Visayas, Duterte received 50 percent, and Robredo got 46 percent. In Mindanao, Duterte’s home region, the gap was widest with 91 percent for the vice president, against Robredo’s 7 percent. For Class ABC, Duterte got 54 percent, and Robredo got 39 percent. For Class D, it was 50 percent for Duterte and 42 percent for Robredo. For Class E, Duterte leads Robredo – 55 percent against 37 percent. The survey had 1,500 respondents and a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points. VP preference Forty-six percent of the respondents in the same survey for vice presidential preference backed Sen. Erwin Tulfo, while 38 percent backed Sen. Robin Padilla. The respondents were asked whom they would vote for as vice president if the 2028 elections were held at the time of the survey. In Metro Manila, the figures were 54 percent for Tulfo and 29 percent for Padilla. In Balance Luzon, the figures were 52 percent for Tulfo and 26 percent for Padilla. In the Visayas, the figures were 63 percent for Tulfo and 30 percent for Padilla.
