'Unarmed civilians must not be targeted' - Two killed in alleged Israeli strike on Gaza port *DISTRESSING*

"Two Palestinians were reportedly killed and others injured in an alleged Israeli strike against the port area west of Gaza City. Footage from Sunday shows bloodstains on the ground, whilst other images show a damaged car with people gathered around. A helicopter can be seen flying overhead, alongside shots of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex showing bodies and the relatives of the victims. "People came from the camps. They are tired of the camps. They came to see the sea, to relax, and to breathe clean air. Then a rocket fell on them," said Shurouq Saadallah. Saadallah questioned the absence of 'humanitarian organisations' and international action, warning that "unarmed civilians must not be targeted so easily." Fellow Gaza resident Ahmed Halas urged a return to peace amid the recent strikes that comes despite a ceasefire being in place. "Have mercy on us, we don't want war,” he said. “We have been displaced for a year. Our young children are hiding under the tents from the sounds of rockets and shelling." Israel had not commented on the reported strike on the port area at the time of publication. War between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, 2023 following attacks carried out by the group resulting in the deaths of 1,139 people, most of them Israeli civilians and the capture of more than 200 hostages. In response, the Israeli army launched a large-scale military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which had resulted in the deaths of 72,939 Palestinians and injuries to 172,927 others at the date of publication. In January, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of the second phase of Trump's 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which includes a transition from a ceasefire to disarmament, the formation of a technocratic administration and the start of reconstruction."
