"Paris Saint-Germain brought its Champions League glory home to Paris on Sunday, turning the Champ de Mars into a giant blue-and-red runway beneath the Eiffel Tower. Footage shows the PSG squad walking across the lawn to a massive podium with fans packed tightly on both sides, waving flags, lighting flares and cheering. The celebration followed PSG’s dramatic penalty shootout win over Arsenal in Budapest, securing the club’s second Champions League title. Around 100,000 fans were expected near the Eiffel Tower for the homecoming event. The celebrations came after a night of unrest in the French capital. Celebrations after the final whistle spiralled into clashes around the Champs-Elysees and Parc des Princes, where fires, vandalism and looting were reported. French authorities said 780 people were arrested nationwide, including 480 in the Paris region. At least 219 civilians and 57 police officers were injured, while more than 260 vehicles were burned across France. A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing during the unrest near Porte Maillot. Officials also said some of the violence appeared to involve opportunistic vandals rather than genuine supporters. The Champ de Mars event was placed under heavy security, with strict checkpoints, designated entry gates and thousands of police deployed across Paris to prevent another night of chaos. French President Emmanuel Macron later hosted the team at the Elysee Palace, congratulating the European champions while condemning the overnight violence. "This is not soccer, this is not sport... We will be uncompromising with those who have been caught. We do not want to see this happen again. It's over. We've had enough," he said."
