"More than 8,000 people participated in the 'Big Swap Meet' for World Cup 2026 album stickers held at the Bicentenario Stadium in La Florida, Santiago, Chile on Sunday, an event that became the largest sticker exchange meeting in the country. Footage shows collectors of all ages gathered to exchange their duplicate stickers as the 2026 World Cup closes in, with stickers of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo among the most sought after of the day. Thousands of attendees took advantage of the massive gathering to complete their albums. World Cup sticker album collector Martin Zavala highlighted the importance of creating a meeting place for fans. "It's great that these events can be held, there are many people who don't have the opportunity to go and exchange stickers with anyone, so being able to meet so many people, I came here missing 50 stickers, so by talking to many people I was able to achieve it and complete the album," he commented. Mayor of La Florida, Daniel Reyes, noted that the initiative arose after observing how children and young people arranged informal meetings to exchange stickers in squares, parks, and shopping centers, spaces he said were not necessarily safe enough for the purpose. He explained that it was decided to arrange the meet at the Bicentenario Stadium, making it the first professional stadium in the country to host an event of this type. Reyes added that the turnout far exceeded initial expectations and highlighted the participation of entire families, who shared the experience of exchanging stickers and socialising away from screens and mobile phones. One father of an avid collector, Rodrigo Legrand, described the initiative as "wonderful" and said that even after several hours at the venue, his family was not ready to leave. The day also included contests, food trucks and an official Panini pack sales point. Given the success of the event, local authorities said they are considering holding it again in future. "
