Sri Lanka offers visa-free entry for Omani citizens

Muscat – Sri Lanka has introduced a new visa policy offering free 30-day tourist visas to citizens of 40 countries, including Oman, in a move aimed at boosting tourism and attracting more international visitors. The new scheme came into effect on May 25, allowing Omani travellers to obtain a tourist Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) without paying visa processing fees. Nationals of several Gulf countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, are also eligible for the facility. According to Sri Lanka’s immigration authorities, travellers are still required to complete the online ETA application before arrival, despite the waiver of visa fees. The initiative applies to holders of diplomatic, official, service and ordinary passports. The visa permits a stay of up to 30 days and includes double-entry privileges during the validity period. Visitors wishing to remain in Sri Lanka beyond 30 days may apply for an extension through the relevant authorities and pay the applicable extension fees.
