Muntinlupa to give rice aid to 31,000 families

MANILA, Philippines — The Muntinlupa City government announced on Monday that 31,000 households will receive rice assistance this year under the national government’s “Bigay Bigas sa Masa” program, with four rounds of distribution scheduled across the city. The city government said the program provides direct food assistance to vulnerable sectors, including indigent persons with disabilities, low-income workers, and families facing health, social, and housing-related challenges. Qualified beneficiaries include indigent PWDs and their care-dependents, fisherfolk, farmers, tricycle, jeepney and pedicab drivers, motorcycle taxi and delivery riders, barangay health workers, Kabalikat members, and informal waste workers. Families with health and social vulnerabilities, as well as informal settler households and residents affected by fires since January 2026, are also eligible for the program. The city government said pilot distribution started in May and will continue in the coming weeks as additional beneficiaries are served. Under the program guidelines, only one beneficiary will be counted per household.
