Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and three Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials were transferred to the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory on Monday following the completion of required legal, medical, and custodial procedures, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). The DILG said the transfer was carried out based on the latest report from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). The officials transferred were Assistant District Engineer Denryl Caesar Cortuna, District Engineer Manny Bumagat Bulusan, and District Engineer Arturo Lombres Gonzales Jr., along with Estrada. The BJMP reported that Cortuna was admitted to the facility at 5:47 p.m., while Estrada, Bulusan, and Gonzales were admitted at 8:15 p.m. after undergoing prescribed medical assessments. Following medical clearance, the four were admitted to the jail’s general population in accordance with existing custodial procedures, the BJMP said. The DILG emphasized that all individuals committed to BJMP custody are processed and treated under the same detention rules and protocols regardless of their position or status. “Court orders are implemented, due process is observed, and the law is applied equally to all,” the department said.
