Report: Finland may need €14bn a year for defence

Finland’s long-term defence spending requirements could increase to more than €14 billion a year by the end of the decade, according to a new report presented to Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen by a cross-party parliamentary working group. The report , which examined Finland’s defence development and resource needs for the 2030s, concludes that Russia will remain a long-term and difficult-to-predict threat to both Finland and the NATO alliance. It argues that maintaining credible military capabilities will require sustained investment over the coming decade.
