S&P/TSX composite up more than 300 points, U.S. stock markets also rise

TORONTO — Canada's main stock index rose more than 300 points in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the base metals sector, while U.S. stock markets also climbed. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 317.76 points at 35,052.65.
