Operation against organized crime - 'Gabito', criminal leader linked to the massacre of ten miners in Sinaloa, captured in Mexico

"Mexican authorities arrested Gabriel "N", alias "El Gabito" or "El 80", identified as a leader of Los Chapitos, one of the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, on Monday in El Rosario, Sinaloa. Images released this Tuesday show the detainee in custody of Army elements and state agents. He was wearing a brown shirt, blue pants, and black sneakers. In a statement, Mexico's Security Cabinet reported that the capture was carried out through a coordinated operation, with the participation of personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, and state authorities. According to the National Detention Registry file, Gabriel "N" was arrested on June 1 at 8:15 p.m. and was placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR), which will determine his legal status. The detainee is being investigated for his involvement in crimes such as kidnapping, extortion, homicide, and crimes against health. Additionally, he is linked to the murder of 10 miners in the municipality of La Concordia that occurred in January of this year. The arrest occurs in a context of persistent violence in Sinaloa, where since 2024 there has been a dispute between factions of the Sinaloa Cartel for control of the organization, following the capture in the United States of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, co-founder of the criminal group."
